Own experience with tiger balm:
Applications: prevention against tendon inflammation or application with tendon aches or tendon inflammations.
Only apply tiger balm sparingly: tiger balm is a very warming cream and must be applied only sparingly.
After the massage wrap the area round or cover it: For inhibiting that the area with tiger balm will be touched by oneself or by other persons thus tiger balm will come to not desired locations (rubbing one's eyes etc.) one should cover the treated body area or wrap it around. When there is an application at the wrist against inflamed tendons then the coverage can also be with a wristlet.
After the massage with tiger balm always wash the fingers well: When tiger balm was applied with bare fingers then the fingers should be washed well with soap and above all under the finger nails remnants of tiger balm should be removed thus rests of tiger balm will not reach other points where it's not at all wanted (rubbing one's eyes etc.).
White tiger balm not provoking spots: For evading spots in the clothes one can use white tiger balm.
As Thai people are hardly making any sports and are hardly moving in their life anyway the big majority of Thai people don't know the effects of Tiger Balm at all.

Spain 21.9.2025: Poor architecture in Spain provokes mosquitoes in apartments and residential blocks:
due to poor architecture in residential blocks without windows / ventilation in bathrooms, without mosquito nets on the windows, without cross-ventilation, without natural ventilation from below - Tea tree oil + red tiger balm

There was a video about Spain where new residents from England complained about mosquito plagues. I wrote a comment about it:
Video from 30.8.2025: 9 things I hate about Spain 😉🇪🇸 (BY AN EXPAT FROM GREAT BRITAIN!! 🇬🇧)
(orig. German: 9 Dinge, die ich an Spanien hasse 😉🇪🇸 (VON EINEM EXPAT AUS GROSSBRITANNIEN!! 🇬🇧)

The comment:
MOSQUITOS will bite when they like the smell of your skin. I have the same problem. Fight mosquitos with 1)mosquito nets on the windows, 2)organize draught in the flat or in the house, 3)there must be windows or good ventilation systems in the bathroom. Spanish apartment blocks are mostly missing all 3 points so they are mosquito centers. ->> It's an ARQUITECTURE PROBLEM in Spain and the authorities are not aware of it! In Peru e.g. the bathrooms mostly have not even a window but just a hole on the top - and there is mostly only cold water - so there is mostly no hot humid concentration anywhere in a flat in Peru.
NATURAL REPELLENT ag. mosquitos e.g.: rub your limbs+throat+neck with tea trea oil and after 10 minutes rub also red tiger balm (with a kitchen paper or 4folded toilet paper) during hot summer 1x per day, at least all 3 days. Let the tiger balm kitchen papers be open in the flat so all air in the flat smells like tiger balm ->> mosquitos will flee from the odor. Put also tiger balm under tables and beds, so the mosq. flee.
HEALING MOSQUITO BITES goes also with rubbing tea tree oil first and after 10 minutes rub over it tiger balm (with a kitchen paper or 4folded toilet paper).
4) There is a natural air conditioning system from the architect Michael Reynolds (he invented the "earth ship") with tubes 20m under the ground cooling the air in the tube and letting it into the house cooling the house provoking a little draught which mosquitos don't like.

CONCLUSION: Arquitecture in hot zones should copy the natural climate tricks in the house. Spanish arquitects or Sp. governments are not acustomed to copy nature with a window obligation for bathrooms, mosquito net obligation on windows or draught possibility in all flats, nor air tubes for natural ventilation. There must be a learning effect with this because hot summer over 30ºC is 5 months now in a big part of Spain and not only 2 months.
